On the weekend it was announced that up to 300,000 households across regional NSW could save hundreds of dollars on their power bills thanks to a no-interest loan provided by the NSW Liberals and Nationals government, to purchase solar-battery and battery systems.

I encourage residents across the Dubbo electorate to look into the Empowering Homes program, which is yet another measure introduced to help with the cost of living.
It’s estimated that a family with a $500 quarterly electricity bill could save up to $285 a year on their bills while repaying the no-interest loans.
These savings could increase to more than $2,000 a year when the loan is fully repaid.
Households with quarterly energy bills of $625 could save up to $457 a year while repaying the no-interest loans, and up to $2,200 a year when the loan is fully repaid.
Households with quarterly energy bills of $875 could save up to $640 a year while repaying the loans, and up to $2,390 when the loan is repaid.
To be eligible for the scheme, applicants will need to be owner-occupiers of a house with an annual household income of up to $180,000.
Cracking down
Domestic violence offenders will soon have even more police cracking down on them with extra specialist officers set to join the ranks.
Last week I announced that 22 extra police will form additional Domestic Violence High Risk Offender Teams to proactively target offenders and support survivors across NSW.
This significant investment will help protect some of the most vulnerable people in our community from the scourge of domestic and family violence, and is only possible thanks to the NSW Liberals & Nationals ongoing support for the NSW Police Force.
We’ve committed a record $583 million for police to deliver 1,500 extra police over the next four years – and that means more officers on the front foot tackling key issues like domestic violence, before they escalate.”
The additional resources will complement and strengthen the work of the existing teams, and be allocated according to operational assessments to where they’ll be most effective.
Drought relief road
Narromine Shire Council will receive $300,000 in State Government money in order to upgrade roads that are accessed by heavy vehicles during the drought.
Narromine is one of a number of councils that are receiving much needed funds to support the increased movement of stock, feed and water as part of the drought relief.
The Liberals and Nationals in government have been working in partnership with Local Government NSW to evaluate submissions received by local councils across the state.
Eligible councils can apply for up to $300,000 to help with road maintenance and improvements to accommodate increased freight movements.
I am pleased to announce that the Liberals and Nationals in government have committed to providing $300,000 to Narromine Shire Council to improve Belowrie Road at Tomingley and Eumungerie Road at Narromine.
Mr Grant said the Drought Relief Heavy Vehicle Access Program was announced on 21 October 2018 and offers an additional $15 million toward the cost of maintenance and minor improvement work on council roads and roadsides.
“These improvements will contribute to heavy vehicle access, in support of the drought relief task,” he said
“The changes will support farmers impacted by the drought by improving heavy vehicle access on local roads, which has increased as a result of the drought conditions.”
