Firstly a big thanks to all who pitched in a helped with various tasks over the weekend, Particularly Geoff Anderson for his Umpiring Expertise and Phil Harding for above and beyond Marking Efforts. Also to the other members who jumped in and helped out when asked, it was very much appreciated:
In the Zone Open Singles Narromine’s own Aaron Clark has made it through to the last 8 in the Zone courtesy of winning his section. Aaron defeated Robbie Stanford in an all local derby to determine who would be advancing to next week’s finals series.
As Fate would have it the Narromine Bowling Club will now be Hosting that finals Series commencing 9am Saturday 23rd February, yep this coming Saturday and again we will need a few Markers.
To Date the following have volunteered, Kevin Rider, Aaron Hutchison, Robbie Stanford, Adam Jermyn, Arnold Gillespie, Bev Lincoln, Des Lincoln: but we still need quite a few more so if you can help out Saturday Morning & or Saturday Afternoon Please add your name to List on the Notice Board:
The East Maitland troops turned up around 1.30pm on Friday and didn’t stop “PLAYING UP” till they left at Midday on Sunday: We Managed to get a couple of Social Bowls games in, Saturday afternoon and again Sunday Morning and the results, well really everyone was a winner.
My thanks to the Narromine Male members who joined in the fun, but it was disappointing we could only find ONE (01), yep that’s right ONE lady to come along and have a social game of Bowls:
The Draw for the Consistency singles has been done and it was hoped to get this event under way this weekend but with limited green space, I don’t see it starting till Next Saturday Now: However that doesn’t mean for those involved not to try and arrange a suitable time with your opponent, even midweek is ok:
The board has determined our three top grade skips for the pennant season and congratulations to Aaron Clark, Robbie Stanford and Robert French on obtaining these onerous positions.
The three skips have meet and selected their Sides for the First Round and are as Follows, Team one Peter Cross, John Edwards, Aaron Hutchison and Aaron Clark. Team two Adam Jermyn, Terry McDonald, Eddie McPhee and Robbie Stanford: Team three Ben Clark, Kevin Rider, Sam Crook and Robert French: The grade three Reserve is Mark Hilder:
Now that the “Top Side” has been formulated, it is Hoped the Board will meet during the week Via a telephone “hook-up” and decide upon our grade 5 Skips for 2019:
Once this has been done the then nominated three grade 5 skips will select their teams for the first round of the 2019 Zone 4 Pennant Season: It is envisaged that the Teams for this grade will be on the Notice Board before the weekend:
Social Bowls results recent weeks: February 7 winners were Peter Kelly and Steve Buttsworth. February 14 winners were Peter Kelly, Des Lincoln and Jeff Schloeffell.
Just a reminder that Noms for the “A” Grade Singles Close this weekend, and if you are of a mind to play in this event sooner rather than later should your next visit to the “Old Notice Board”.
And finally on a sad not we lost another Champion this week with the passing of Dave Woods: Dave along with his brother Don were stalwarts and great Ambassadors for the Narromine Bowling Club: RIP Dave:

Gerries Golf
Last Saturday a field of 21 players faced the starter for the weekly Gerries Nine hole competition on the fabulous Narromine Gold Course. Eight ladies played the back nine with the winner being Vicki Gainsford with a top round of 24 points. This was the best round of the day for both men and ladies so well done Vicki.Second place was Bev Woods on 22 points.
Once again there was no winner in the ladies NTP and this now jackpots to a very healthy eight golf balls next week.Worth winning ladies. Thirteen fellas turned up for the men's event on the front nine and here we had a choked Leader Board with four players equal on 23 points.
The lucky winner on a count back was non other than Chris Harding.John Butcher was second while Ross King and Terry Willis missed out on the trophies but avoided the handicappers axe.
Two players tied for the overall NAGA prize on 14 points and the lucky winner was Viv Halbish who won the count back over Bob Fletcher. After the golf presentations attention turned to the Pool table where Chris Harding playing for a double, and Brian Masling met hot favorites Gus Smith and Terry Willis in the preliminary round.
It appears someone left the black over the hole for Pom to sink and give his team victory to advance to the final. Maybe the organizer could have a look at the form of the losers may be a need for a swab to be taken.
Tony Beaumont and Bob Fletcher met Ross King and the Peter Gainsford in the other match with Ross and Peter advancing to the final where they played Pom and Maso.Pom and Maso were at ' Winks like odds' and they saluted accordingly to become the weekly champs. It was double to Harding following his win in the golf-congratulations Pom. Next Saturday the girls will play the front nine and the boys will play the back nine with the hit off at 9am. See you all on the tee.
