BOWLS
Whilst it may have been a quiet Easter as home for our bowlers, quite a number played in tournaments over this holiday weekend. To date no report on major wins by any of our boys, but may get a few results advised during the week and if so they will appear in next week's column.

Meanwhile, on the home front bowls was restricted to just a couple of outings of social bowls with 16 players going around on Thursday and another 10 took to the greens for Sunday's chook run.
Firstly to Thursday, the full wrap of day's play went something like this; On rink 1 Noel Delboux, Des Lincoln and Arnie Gillespie defeated Richard Hyde, Ross Edden & Dave Mcnair 25/22 in a close encounter of another kind. On rink 2 it was the duo of Kerry Martin & Steve Buttsworth who prevailed 29/13 over Pat Furness & Danny Carnevale, while in the other triples match John Binch, Bob Davis & T Mac defeated Neville Townsend, Clifton Harris & Don Sullivan by the barest of margins 18/17. Master of ceremonies Danny Carnevale handed the following prizes out at presentations. In first place were the duo of Kerry & Buttsy, with Noel, Des & "Puddy" garnering the runners-up cheque.
Just the 10 starters for Sunday's chook run, a surprisingly easier win for Clifton Harris & Bob Davis over Alex Sambrook & David McNair being declared the best card of the day and therefore the only team to get a cheque. The other winning rink on the morning was Richard Hyde, Bob Ashdown & Danny Carnevale who out nudged Billy West, Lionel Ayoub, & William Wilkie 19/15.
With next Thursday being Anzac Day, a few members have asked if there is social bowls still on and the answer is affirmative. It will be the normal Thursday afternoon with names in before 1.30pm for a 2.00pm start.
The draw for the A-grade pairs was done on Sunday morning by Mr Computer, which threw out these matches for next Saturday April 27 at 1.30pm - Game 1: Lionel Ayoub & John Edwards v Ben Clark & Robert French. Game 2: Garry Raines & Don Sullivan v Geoff Anderson & Phil Harding. Game 3: Danny Carnevale & "Puddy" Gillespie v Eddie McPhee & Terry McDonald. Game 4; Sam Crook & Aaron Clark v Alex Sambrook & Mark Hilder. Game 5: Kerry Martin & Peter Cross v Adam Jermyn & Steve Buttsworth. Game 6: Joey Mikulic & Steve Riley v Des Lincoln & David McNair. Game 7: James Daley & Robbie Stanford v Dale McCafferty & Aaron Hutchison.
Just a reminder that nominations for the zone 4s & triples championships close this weekend and with the new divisions, it is a bit surprising we haven't got a president's team in either event yet. So all number 5's pennant players should be organising a team for at least one of these events, given the venue for the fours in only down the road at West Dubbo, and the triples a few blokes further away at Nyngan.
The Zone 4 Pennant playoffs are being hosted at 6 venues right across our region over the weekend of May 4 and 5 and as luck would have it Narromine will be hosting the grade 6 event. Some 100 bowlers, along with their supporters, will descend upon Narromine that weekend and with our Grade 3 & Grade 5 pennant squads playing out of town that weekend the organisers will be shorthanded at home. If you can help "Buttsy" or "Rick" over the course of this weekend it would be appreciated, just give us a call or tap us on the shoulder if you can help out.
Well that's it for me for another week, hope the Easter Bunny was kind to you all!
GERRIES' GOLF
DOUBLE FOR KEARINES
Last Wednesday 15 players faced the starter on the back nine of the Narromine course for the weekly nine hole competition. Surprisingly the course was in great condition and the weather was kind to the players with some very good scores recorded.
The main feature of the day was the winning double to Greg Kearines. He played excellent golf to return a card of 27 stableford points to win the golf and then followed it up with victory in the weekly pool competition.
Kearines' card of 27 points was sufficient for him to ward off the challengers and take the major trophy. Ron Green was close behind in second place with 26 points. The nearest the pin went to Bruce Mitchell and he was unlucky not to finish closer to the winner following an out of bounds on the 17th. The battle for the coveted NAGA prize saw an interesting duel between Ross Fraser and Chris Harding with Fraser taking the prize on a count back which necessitated a referral to the rule book for a decision It was good to see Alan Kearines, Ron Green and Norm Lewis back on the course after lengthy lay-offs.
In the pool competition, Greg Kearines and Bob Fletcher played Mal Richardson and Terry Willis in the final following the preliminary rounds. The final was not really a game as Fletch and Kearo gave their opponents no chance and went on the win convincingly. Kearines and Fletcher Champions for the week giving Greg the double for the day. This afternoon play will be on the front nine with the hit off at 3pm.See you all on the tee.

CASTLEREAGH LEAGUE
Round 3
After a break for Easter the 2019 Christie and Hood Castlereagh League competition will resume with some interesting matches on offer, not the least being the clash between the Trangie Magpies and the Gilgandra Panthers at Trangie.
The Magpies have opened their season in fine form, although it may not be reflected in the fact that they have accumulated just one competition point in their two games so far, that point coming from a hard fought 18 all draw with the Gulgong Terriers down in Terrier Town in round 2.
The stop-start nature to the beginning of the Panther's season may well work in Trangie's favour and they could well upset the reigning premiers in front of their home crowd.
Round 3, Saturday April 27.
Trangie v Gilgandra, Cobar v Gulgong, Binnaway v Coonamble, Baradine v Dunedoo, Coonabarabran bye.
