Hear our Heart media officer Virginia Redenbach said she was "overwhelmed" by the donation, especially by a small school in a community doing it tough during the drought.

"Any donation is always welcomed, but $1000 is just incredible," she said.

Ms Redenbach said while the Christian School are one of their newer schools, it didn't take long for them to host a fundraiser for the charity.

"I rang the school and was delighted to find out they had initiated an awareness day and fundraiser," she said.

"Principal Debbie Robertson explained that the whole school community had raised the staggering donation by having a out of uniform day."

The Hear our Heart bus was at the Narromine Christian school last month with Hear our Heart healthy ears teacher Therese Quigley and office manager Anita Rudolph who presented their puppet show demonstrating the importance of ear health and blowing your nose.

The volunteer community-funded project was established by hearing support teachers who identified that regular hearing checks were not occurring in their communities.

As a result the Hear Our Heart charity seeks to provide support with the identification, treatment pathway and improvement of educational outcomes for children involved.

The Hear Our Hearts bus project is not for profit and not government funded and relies on donations and fundraising to allow it to continue.
