The Magpies still have work to do, starting this weekend when they travel to Cobar in what is a must-win game for both sides if they are to feature in the final series.
Trangie suffered a 42 to 14 loss to the competition favourites, the Coonabarabran Unicorns at Trangie on Saturday.
The loss combined with Cobar's 84 to 18 win over Binnaway and Dunedoo's 52 to 8 triumph over Coonamble has intensified the pressure on the Magpies to grab a win in one of their final two games.
Despite the weekend's loss Trangie Magpies president Paul Berry said the team played "extremely well".
"They all played really, really well. There was some really good defensive work," he said.

The president couldn't single out one player but praised the work of the forwards including Aaron Nerry and Nathan Bell along with Braden Carney, Matty Gibbs, and the experience of Peter Berry and Damien Bell.
"They all played as best they can, I think ... they've got to keep their heads together when decisions go against them, when they probably shouldn't have, but that's sport and that's how it is," Mr Berry said.
Next week is a tough one for both Trangie and Cobar who are "nipping at their heels," according to Mr Berry.
"[Cobar] will be tough, they've always been tough out there," he said.
"Cobar's got a hard run too, so they've got to play us out there which will be to their benefit, then they've got to play third position which is Gulgong, at Gulgong which is going to be tough.
"We've got Cobar at Cobar, and Gilgandra away and they're on top so that's going to extremely difficult. But then anything can happen."
It's been 24 years since Trangie have made a grand final, yet Mr Berry said he is proud of how far they've come.
"Going back it was 1995 when we were in the grand final last, so that's a long time for them to be in this position," he said.
"It's just such an achievement for the boys, I believe.
"It doesn't matter the outcome, I think everyone's really proud of how they've gone."
On behalf of the Magpies committee, Mr Berry thanked their sponsors and community for their support over the last 12 months.
"It's been really enlightening, they've really got behind the boys," he said.
"Without our sponsors and their loyalty the club would struggle and without the support of the community it's a tough gig."
