A sold-out crowd recently enjoyed the The Inland Petroleum Narromine Show Ball, where 23-year-old Annabelle Powell was named Narromine's 2019 Showgirl.
Earlier, the five entrants Annabelle Powell, Bridgette Evans, Meegan Seymour, Samantha Bone and Taylor Bartley spent the morning with judges answering questions about Narromine, regional NSW and the agricultural show movement.
At the ball, they were each introduced and asked further questions about the Narromine Shire and Narromine Show.
A student registered nurse, Annabelle grew up in Narromine and is an active member of the Narromine Show Society.
She entered the showgirl competition to represent and promote her community, and to meet like-minded young women who wish to raise the profile, concerns and beliefs of a country lifestyle.
Runner-up, 18-year-old Samantha Bone, grew up in Tomingley and is working while studying bookkeeping. She entered the competition to step outside her comfort zone and help make a difference in her community.

Showgirls help perform various functions at the Narromine Show and, after the show, Annabelle will give a speech at Australia Day, march on ANZAC Day and take part in the Showgirl Zone Final in Dubbo in February before being MC at next year's show ball.
The showgirl competition is an opportunity for young women to become ambassadors for the agricultural show movement.
Entrants gain confidence and communication and leadership skills.
The competition also helps bring the younger generation into local show societies.
