Last week was another busy one across the Dubbo electorate, and it all started with a visit from the NSW Minister for Water, Housing and Property, Melinda Pavey.

I took the Minister for a look at Burrendong Dam, where we announced $7.72m of funding to access remnant water that will provide an additional four months of supply.
Hopefully it rains very soon and we don't get to the stage where we need to access that particular allocation of water, but it is handy to have a contingency plan in place.
I also took the Minister to Taronga Western Plains Zoo, where director Steve Hinks was able to talk to her about the measures the organisation has taken to reduce its water usage and get as much bang for their buck from the allocation they have.
As a government, we are doing everything we can to try and prepare our regions for the worst, but here's hoping some wet stuff falls from the sky very, very soon.
Great Learning opportunities
On Wednesday I ventured to Narromine for the official opening of the high school's Clontarf Academy.
This program is doing great work integrating with young men in our communities, and to have it now branching into Narromine is a wonderful thing for that town.
A Clontarf program will be unveiled at Wellington High School this week, and I look forward to being in attendance at that event as well.
What a show!
The Narromine Show took place over the weekend, and from the start I want to say how amazing our rural communities are.
Even in such trying times, when things are at their worst in regards to drought, to see so many people come together and put on such an event was terrific.
That is the glorious thing about country shows - they show off the best of what our agricultural industry has to offer but also provide an outlet for our farmers and their families.
Congratulations to the organising committee, and to Annabelle Powell, who was crowned as the 2019 Narromine Showgirl.
Fabulous Festival
In Wellington on the weekend, a brilliant Arts and Sculpture Festival was conducted that also incorporated music, market stalls and a special chainsaw sculptor.
Events such as this are held all across the Dubbo electorate on a regular basis, and it was great to see so many people take advantage of the great weather and being part of it.
Until next week
