On Thursday, September 19 all Australians are encouraged to pick up a book and read for one hour. In children, reading has been shown to help with identity formation, setting them up for success in the future. In adults, reading has been shown to reduce stress by 68 per cent more than listening to music, going for a walk, or having a cup of tea. So take an hour to learn, escape and relax, and rediscover or introduce yourself to the benefits of reading.
