On Monday, September 9 station 401 gathered for a barbeque to bid farewell to Mr Poulson, who was also presented with his helmet by the Shire mayor Craig Davies.

Narromine Fire Station commander captain Ewen Jones thanked Mr Poulson on behalf of the brigade for his dedication to the safety of the community and his tireless work especially over the past seven years servicing the fire trucks.

"He was actually what we called the engine keeper," he said.

"He looked after the trucks, kept them full of fuel, made sure it's full of water the tyres are good and ... he's been in charge to make sure it's ready to roll out the door 24/7 and he's done a good job at that.

"He was a very good firefighter and very reliable but unfortunately his primary employment didn't allow him to dedicate as much time as he would have liked to the fire brigade so he made the decision to pull out."

Captain Jones said the role is now going to be filled by Lucas Walsh.

The station commander said the crew have also now recruited three new retained firefighters, Penford Feo, Matthew Cameron and Jotham DelaCerna.

"They're really great additions and assets to the station so we're very pleased to have the three of them," captain Jones said.

Mr DelaCerna is the station's 117^th member.
