Overall, the Trangie contingent came 13th out of 21 teams but Station Commander Wade Haines said the most important part of the three day event was the lessons they would take away from it.
"Everything we do is to promote and train and get better for the community," he said.
Despite getting good results in the different sections from ladder practice to the hose and hydrant event, Mr Haines said they finished with a disappointing result.
"You can't always win," he said.
Trangie is one of the teams to have been competing in the championships for the longest with 35 years of experience under their belt.
Mr Haines said he expected Tony Terry, who has been taking part for the whole 35 years, was one of the oldest competitors at the Tamworth event.
Mr Haines said they continued to take part because not only was it fun, but it was a great way to keep improving their skills and learning new techniques to pass onto the other firefighters.
It has been a busy time for the station. As well as training for the championships and fighting fires, Mr Haines said eight firefighters had also assisted with blazes in Tenterfield and Casino.
