Dozens of firefighters have been at the 264 hectare blaze, which is burning 30 kilometres north-east of Dubbo, since it ignited on Tuesday morning.

The video of the NSW Rural Fire Service's (RFS) 737 Large Air Tanker was taken by firefighters on the ground.

This aircraft is a new addition to the NSW RFS aerial firefighting fleet and is stored at the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Base in Richmond when not on duty.

It can reach all parts of NSW within an hour.

The 737 and its two lead planes support RFS crews on the ground by providing fast, flexible and effective firefighting options.

ROADS around the Goonoo Forest bushfire remain closed on Wednesday morning as firefighters still work on scene to control the blaze.

The 264 hectare bushfire broke out on Tuesday morning and quickly spread through the tinder dry bushland.

Mendooran Road is closed at Brockelhurst and Mendooran, and Mogriguy Forest Road and Old Mendooran Road are also closed.

The Golden Highway and Newell Highway remain open.

The public are advised to stay away from the area.

NSW Rural Fire Service and National Parks and Wildlife Service firefighters have been at the fire since it broke out, while a large air tanker was deployed from Sydney on Tuesday to drop retardant on the blaze.

Firefighters are continuing to hold the fire along Mendooran Road and at 7.15am on Tuesday this blaze was listed as 'being controlled'.

People in the area are urged to monitor conditions and there is no current threat to property.

Smoke is currently settling over a broad area including Dubbo, Jones Creek, Bruah, Spiders Creek and Elong Elong.

At this stage the cause of the blaze is undetermined.
