Despite walking away with wins in all three grades that were matched up with Woodbridge Cup on Saturday, each Goannas side was faced with adversity and had to comeback from a score deficit.

The under 13s found themselves on the back foot straight away, with Woodbridge scoring the first two tries and getting out to a 10 - 0 lead that shortened to a 20 - 14 lead in the host's favour by half-time.

The competition continued in Woodbridge's favour until a late try for Faith Cowan gave the visitors a two point lead, 28 - 26, that still stood at full-time.

The under 18s side lost the opportunity to score first through an early defensive lapse, but were able to rally and punish the hosts by controlling the majority of the scoring, leading 16 - 4 at half-time and finishing up 32 - 12 after a pair of late consolation tries for Woodbridge.

The Open aged side were dealt an early blow, with Woodbridge leading 8 - 0 in the opening stanza before the Goannas were able to reassert themselves early in the game's second half, with powerhouse forward Cassie Toomey crossing twice and Emma Teale adding the much needed extras with two conversions, propelling the Goannas ahead for the first time in the contest 12 - 8.

"It was just for the team," Toomey said of her match-winning effort.

"We all played our role, I was lucky enough to get the two tries, but I couldn't have done it without my teammates."

A try by Emily Caton gave the Goannas enough breathing room to feel comfortable at 16 - 8.

A try to Woodbridge offered consolation and shortened the gap to 16 - 12, but the Goannas were able to hang on and keep their unbeaten streak alive.

"It was a pretty hard game, we were short players, but we ended up getting a couple of the younger girls who did a great job backing up, it was definitely the toughest and the girls went hit for hit, which was really good to see," Toomey said.

The Goannas 15s side was absent from the action in Condobolin, as they'll face Woodbridge on the undercard of the Western Rams vs France game held in Parkes on Wednesday.

The Opens side will also feature at that event, taking on the similarly undefeated Orange Vipers before the main game kicks off.

"I'm really looking forward to playing the Vipers, they're a new team, but it should be very interesting, they haven't lost either, so it should be a really good competition."

"I think all over the women competition's been really competitive, it's let us all show our talent out there and places like Woodbridge and Castlereagh are improving every season which is great."
