Senior constable Michael Deamer along with constables Geordie Yule and Glen Migley were at Sassy Styles Hairdressing Boutique on Thursday in order to support people living with blood cancer.

Despite the current conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic, the crew managed to raise over $850 for the Leukaemia Foundation.

Salon owner and organiser of the event Cassie Lewis hosts the event each year in her two salons, and said this year the emergency service workers were keen to join in.

"Any fundraiser that I can do I will do," she said.

"I just enjoy it, it makes my heart happy to help others."

While the event had been originally planned to host a community event, Ms Lewis said she was amazed at how much has been raised by the team.

"Our initial goal was to raise $3000 per salon and have a sausage sizzle, cake stall, hair spraying and braiding out the front of the salons, but we made do with what we could do," she said.

"We're trying to get in and help those who really need it, which is what I really love to do.

More than anything, Ms Lewis who also hosts a Pink event in October said it was not only about raising money, but educating people on the effects of these diseases.

"Even just raising the awareness for things, that to me is just as important as raising money," she said.

"Like I do with the breast cancer one, there's so many facts that people don't know that I like to put out there for everyone.

"It's also about raising awareness that these things can happen to anybody, it's not because they're old or young ... It just happens, it doesn't discriminate unfortunately."

Ms Lewis said she has postponed a fundraising shave at her Warren salon until conditions improve, however said people can still donate to the Mid Western Emergency Services team at leukaemiafoundation.org.au

The World's Greatest Shave began in 1998 is now one of Australia's biggest fundraising events.
