Cam's story is a heart-warming tale of about the devastation of bushfires and a family's struggle with losing everything, but finding that there are people willing to help them rebuild their farm and their lives.
"I was inspired to write about what was happening with the bushfires at the time," Cam said.
"I think that when people are at a low point and things are really bad that they need to know that there are people who care about them and want to help them.
"I think this book sends out a message that anyone can help people in need with kindness and support."
The budding author, who lives 45 minutes from Trangie, said he enjoys writing because he can tell people about life living on a farm, and create fun and exciting adventures through storytelling.
"I love reading books that I can relate to, and I like to incorporate things from my favourite stories into my writing," he said.
"I also like it because I can escape from my world and use my imagination to write about topics I enjoy."
Cam said he hoped to write more books in the future, and thanked his teachers for helping him.
"I'd like to thank all of my teachers at Trangie Central for making me strive to produce this story," he said.
"A big thanks to Ms Murtagh for all the creative writing practice that I did last year, and to Redgum Book Club for this opportunity."
"I am extremely lucky to have been able to go to the Sydney Writers festival and have authors visit our school."
