The case was detected in Orange on Friday with that person and 10 close contacts now in isolation.
This case was the 47th for the region and the first one detected since April 18.
A Western NSW Local Health District (LHD) spokeswoman said it was critical that everyone in the community continued to practice social distancing to minimise the risk of the transmission of COVID-19.
"This is important for everyone, but particularly for older people and people with health conditions that make them more vulnerable," she said.
"It's also important that we protect our health care workers who we need to stay well to provide care to people who become sick with COVID-19."
The spokeswoman said that the LHD's message was very simple - if you have any symptoms, even mild ones, arrange to be tested.
"We all need to keep our family and loved ones safe," she said.
Statewide, there were 13 new COVID-19 cases recorded in the 24 hours to 8pm on Sunday.
Of those, four were returned travellers from overseas or Victoria and one with no known source.
To help stop the spread of COVID-19:
- If you are unwell stay in, get tested and isolate
- Wash your hands regularly. Take hand sanitiser with you when you go out
- Keep your distance. Leave 1.5 metres between yourself and others
- Wear a mask in situations where you cannot physically distance
