This was the group's first meeting since COVID-19 restrictions came into play, and was an opportunity to meet, greet and renew friendships, albeit from a safe distance, before embarking on the business of the day.

The conference was officially opened by Jessie Quigley OAM and chaired by group president, Dr Sally Torr of Bourke, and following the National Anthem and the Association motto, a minute of silence was observed to honour the memory of passed members.

A warm welcome was extended to visiting branch members by Nyngan branch president Leonore Thornton and a Welcome to Country was delivered by Benita Dutton.

Guest Speaker, Judy Houghton of CWA's Central West group was introduced and gave a most interesting and informative talk on her career as a real estate agent.

Following a very tasty lunch, all positions were declared vacant in preparation for the election of new office bearers, which resulted in the election of Brenda Carter as group president, Margaret Gudgeon and Gladys Thompson as joint secretaries, while Leonore Thornton moved into the position of treasurer.

Mrs Carolyn Egan from Narromine remains in the role of group representative to state.

Handicraft judging saw Denise Turnbull of Enngonia scoop the pool with two very finely crafted items, both exquisite in their workmanship.

Reports were presented by all branches, and a motion to be debated at state conference in May was presented to the meeting by Cobar branch, and unanimously supported by the meeting.

The next group council meeting will be held in Nyngan on November 28.

This meeting will be a forum for the judging of the Land Cookery competition as a precursor to progressing to judging at state level in May next year.
