According to the New York Times, the five-time NBA All Star will join an ownership group that features Melbourne product Dante Exum and other current and former NBA players Zach Randolph, Al Harrington and Josh Childress.
The move follows Indiana Pacers star Victor Oladipo's investment in the New Zealand Breakers last week alongside former NBA players Matt Walsh and Shawn Marion while Kevin Martin owns part of the Brisbane Bullets.
Recent No.3 draft pick LaMelo Ball bid to take over the Illawarra Hawks following his 12-game stint at the club last season, before the NBL handed the keys to a consortium that features long-time NBA executive Bryan Colangelo.
Ball and Breakers import RJ Hampton (pick 24) were both drafted directly from the NBL last week, while Brisbane centre Will Magnay is expected to be picked up as a free agent by an NBA club in coming days.
