Defence chiefs have visited Government House in Canberra to sign a condolence book in memory of Prince Philip.

The Duke of Edinburgh died last Friday aged 99.
Governor-General David Hurley said his had been a lifetime of service, devotion and commitment.
Prince Philip's service began with his time in the Royal Navy, including during WWII when he was mentioned in dispatches while a young sub-Lieutenant on-board HMS Valiant.
His honorary positions included admiral of the Royal Australian Navy fleet, marshal of the Australian Army and air marshal of the Royal Australian Air Force, but he had no role in the Australian military's operational structure.
The condolence book was signed by defence chief General Angus Campbell, defence secretary Greg Moriarty, vice chief of the defence force Vice Admiral David Johnston, navy chief Vice Admiral Michael Noonan, army chief Lieutenant General Rick Burr, and air force chief Air Marshal Mel Hupfeld.
