8.57: Lanterns will shine out at Dubbo tonight as a symbol of hope that in the future everyone with blood cancer can be cured.
A gathering of people and lanterns to be held at the Victoria Park rotunda on September 23 from 5.30pm to 8pm will also help the Leukaemia Foundation achieve its $1.25 million target, which will be used to fund projects in Australia's leading hospitals and research facilities.

TELEVISION: As the final season of the hit sitcom Two and a Half Men looms, its original star Charlie Sheen, who exited the series in spectacular fashion three years ago, is seeking to return. According to US media reports Sheen has contacted his former employers at Warner Bros to investigate whether he can be a part of the show's final episode. That episode, the 12th season finale, is scheduled to air in the US in the second quarter of 2015. It's an ambitious idea: his character Charlie Harper was killed off in the series. Though not seen on screen, he was struck and killed by a moving train.
CELEBRITY: Amber Heard is the latest star to have her privacy violated. Over the weekend, more than 50 topless photos of the 28-year-old Texan were uploaded to the websites 4chan and Reddit. Among the stolen images is one with a message to her fiance, Johnny Depp. In the photo, Heard holds up a sign, a message to 51-year-old Depp, in which she refers to him as her "beloved Tonto man".
TELEVISION: It could have been a scene from Anchorman. At the end of a typical evening news report on Alaskan network KTVA, television journalist Charlo Greene spectacularly quit her job live on air. "F--- it, I quit," she said. Her announcement followed a story on the Alaska Cannabis Club, a "collective" that "connects medical marijuana cardholders in need to medical marijuana cardholders with green".
8.42: In sport news this morning. Nyngan took out the reserve grade premiership on the weekend against the Macquarie Cyms. Read about it in the link below.

8.10: Did you catch last night's Brownlow Medal? We've got the wrap up for you right here:
It was the result none of the experts predicted; West Coast Eagle Matt Priddis claimed the 2014 Brownlow Medal.
Priddis becomes just the third Eagle to win a Brownlow Medal behind Ben Cousins and Chris Judd in 2004 and 2005.
The result was a shock to many with early season favourite Gary Ablett Jnr and Geelong's Joel Selwood expected to sit at the top come the end of round 23.

7.55:
A string of tyre slashings in South Dubbo has prompted a Dubbo family to buy a security camera that may provide a clue to a vandalism attack that took place in their driveway in the early hours of Monday morning.
A Gipps Street father told the Daily Liberal he woke to find a tyre slashed on a vehicle parked in his driveway.
He had bought and installed the camera after a spate of vandalism attacks at his and nearby houses.
It recorded a man in a hoodie with a bottle in his left hand and a concealed object in the other, about 4.11am Monday, the same morning the tyre was slashed.
"This has not only been expensive and inconvenient, it has now escalated. This guy was in my driveway with a weapon. Obviously it's very upsetting for my family. We're just one target, there could be many more and it could be thousands of dollars worth of damage."
- An unnamed Gipps Street father
