She still says it’s a hobby but Jennifer’s cake decorating business Heavenly Scent definitely keeps her busy.

The former IT technician said she and her 18- year-old apprentice Taje Fowler spend hours upon hours making custom cakes “filled with love”.

“You don’t just whack a cake together - you have to really care and take the time to make it look good,” she said.

“I don’t send a cake out unless I think it’s perfect. “And I make sure people know how to transport it and make sure they know if there’s wires in it, everything.

“It’s great when you see the finished product.” “Every little detail has to be perfect,” Taje added.

The longest cake they made was 25 inches, one cake they made took 30 hours and another travelled all the way to Alice Springs, so they have an impressive resume.

Jennifer is also a big supporter of local business and has recently developed a bridal package for the future.

“I’m trying to support local businesses, support entrepreneurs and keep brides and their events in Narromine,” she said.

“There are a lot of locals who don’t know how to organise a wedding or event.

“I’m hoping I can give this package to people and it be their one-stop shop.”

The cake baking and decorating team plans to take its work to the Cake, Bake and Sweets Show in Sydney this June.
