DPI manager northern cropping systems, Dr Guy McMullen said following a good season, the field days provided growers, advisors and industry groups with the opportunity to hear the latest trial updates and crop management issues from DPI crop experts.
“A range of issues will be discussed from research trials covering variety, agronomy, pathology, nutrition and disease management,” Dr McMullen said.
“This research also includes the Variety Specific Agronomy Packages (VSAP) projects and the National Variety Trials that cover wheat, barley, canola and chickpeas to help growers maximise the performance of their crop production.
“DPI co-invest with the Grains Research & Development Corporation (GRDC) and local farmers on trial sites across the Central West to provide independent research to the cropping industry.”
o Field days to be held:
- Trangie, Wednesday, September 30, at Trangie Agricultural Research Centre, Mitchell Highway at 8.30am to 4.30pm.
- Nyngan, Friday, October 2, at Innaminna, Nyngan, five kilometres from Nyngan along the Barrier Highway (Cobar Road, look for field day signs), 7.30am to 10.30am.
