McGrath Foundation breast care nurses from Dubbo, Vanessa Hyland and Margaret Collins, were in town to receive the donation and were then treated to a morning tea at the shed.
Narromine Men’s Shed secretary John Mutton said the shed liked to contribute to many charitable causes.
“It’s come out of our working account from the sale of furniture and second-hand goods and money we have raised over the years,” Mr Mutton said.
“We decided to give money to a couple of foundations.
“Last week we gave the same amount to the Victorian bushfire victims.”
The McGrath Foundation raises money to place McGrath breast care nurses in communities across Australia and also aims to increase awareness of breast cancer in young people.
More than 40,000 families have been supported by 110 McGrath Breast Care Nurses nationally, including two in Dubbo.
The service is provided free of charge and can be accessed by self-referral.
Mr Mutton said the two breast care nurses, as well as the foundation itself, were grateful for the support.
The Men’s Shed also supports students locally through its encouragement awards.
One student from each of Narromine’s four schools receives an encouragement award at the end of each year.
“It goes to a student that has tried hard all year and is deserving of an award,” Mr Mutton said.
