Firing from 800 yards against an unpredictable breeze proved difficult for a small band of six rifle shooters at the Narromine-Dubbo rifle range on Saturday.
The breeze from the south-west was coupled with cloud cover that changed sighting conditions constantly and good scores were hard to find.
At the end of the first stage Rob Rainbow led the target rifle shooters with a 46/50 while Daniel Galea was enjoying a healthy lead in F-class on 54/60.
In the second stage some scores improved and Locky Simpson came close to a "possible" when he fired a 49/50.
Rob Rainbow finished on a 47/50 to win the B-grade badge. Locky Simpson won C-grade and Daniel Galea was a clear winner in F-class with a total of 107/120.
The weekly handicap trophy went to Rob Rainbow while the "pin-hole" remained safe for another week.
Individual scores were: Lionel Morrish 45/49, F-class total 94/120; Alan Taylor 47/53, F-class total 100/120; Rob Rainbow 46/47, off-rifle 93, handicap 8, total 100/100; Daniel Galea 54/53, F-class total 107/120; Locky Simpson 38/49, o/r 87, hcp 10, total 97/100; Dave Forster 51/47, F-class total 98/120.
This Saturday, shooting is from 900 yards starting at 12.30 pm.
