Saturday we hosted the Rookie Pairs, a state event which saw 4 Narromine players competing for the right to advance to the regional playoffs this coming weekend, which co-incidentally will also be played at Narromine.

Unfortunately only one of our pairs combinations got through the qualifying event, but that in itself is a pretty good achievement. Our pairs team of Aaron Clark & Sam Crook will enter next Sunday’s regional finals as a one in four chance to advance to the state finals.
Also lining up next weekend will be Ben Clark & Trent Jacobson who along with Sam Crook have qualified for the regional playoffs of the Singles format of the Rookies.
Four matches of consistency Singles were played last Saturday, which resulted in wins for Peter Cross, Arnold Gillespie, Robbie Stanford & Mick Wright, well done to each of you. This event will have a little hiatus now, with FINO Day & The Long weekend taking precedence but again if any players want to jump in and play their match feel free to go ahead and organise your game.
Next Saturday the time honoured “FINO” Day is the main item on the agenda for the 12 Nominated Narromine Teams and so with the house full sign posted, the ongoing success of this event is all but assured. Play kicks off at 9.30am and creams are the dress code for the day.
Our annual general meeting is scheduled for Sunday morning and at close of nominations for the Board of management all but one position as Director has been filled. President Kevin Rider will be in the chair for another term, and hopefully we can produce another successful season on and off the green for our members.
Social Bowls was a non-event this week, with only 6 players going round on Thursday & Mother Nature cancelling Sunday mornings chook run.
For the Ladies it was a similar story, with Tuesday’s programmed Triples Final also having to be put on hold, but hopefully this match featuring Mavis Leak, Janet Coote & Jan Buswell up against Helen Woolfe, Betty Purvis & Heather McIntyre will be played this week instead.
Narromine Bowling Club will host the Una Dalton Shield in a couple of weeks’ time and at this stage the ladies need to find a few more players, so if you would like to be part of the Narromine Team for this event then please see either Rosalie or Jan to have your name included in nominations for this event. No doubt these same two ladies will have all the particulars of what is involved, so again if you’re interested pick up the phone to avoid missing out on being part of the action.
And finally on a sad note belated thoughts and prayers to the Ashdown Family on their recent loss of Elaine.
