He and his wife made the decision to move to the coastal town in December last year, leaving behind a life in the city.
“We took the opportunity to move to beautiful Narooma,” Dr Malik said.
Despite the move being a “hard decision” the family are enjoying their new life in Narooma.
“It’s is a wonderful environment to live and to bring up children, my wife and I have three small daughters who just love the beach,” Dr Malik said.
“There has only been one drawback in our move and that is the lack of permanent rental accommodation.
“I am still looking for a house if anyone out there has an unfurnished three or four bedroom house with safe yard available to rent on long lease please contact the surgery.”
Moving from the city hasn’t stopped him from improving his own skills. Since the move Dr Malik has completed a mental health training course.
“I always strive to achieve the highest standard possible of medical care for my patients and am involved in ongoing medical education all the time,” he said.
“I relish challenges and work effectively under pressure and even stressful situations.”
Dr Malik has an interest in skin lesions, arthritis and geriatrics.
“I enjoy meeting new patients and establishing a rapport with them to ensure the best health outcomes,” he said.
“I welcome all new patients and look forward to establishing my own patient base within the Blue House Surgery.”
Blue House Surgery was established in 1985 by practice principal, Dr Ken Doust. The team have welcomed Dr Malik to the practice with open arms. The support he has received from the manager, Amanda, and experienced GP and principal Dr Doust has made the transition an easy one.
“The support and assistance is valuable and working with an accomplished and experienced GP like Dr Doust is an amazing and knowledgeable experience,” Dr Malik said.
