Former Home and Away star and X Factor singer Johnny Ruffo is recovering in hospital after undergoing emergency surgery to remove a brain tumour.

The 29-year-old, who first found fame on the 2011 season of X Factor,took to Instagram to share the news. Ruffo said that he first admitted himself into hospital with a migraine and was quickly rushed into surgery.
"On Sunday i went into hospital with a migraine. I had to have emergency surgery to have a brain tumour removed. I am on the mend and feeling positive. Keep me in your thoughts," Ruffo told Fairfax Media.
Along with two images of his post-surgery recovery, including one of large staples across a scar on his forehead, the star wrote, "Some things in life really put things into perspective, hoping for a positive result."
Many of Ruffo's 195,000 followers on Instagram, including industry friends, have reached out on social media to wish him a speedy recovery.
Former Home and Away co-star Ada Nicodemou wrote, "Sending u all my love and Prayers Johnny." Love Child actress Sophie Hensser commented, "Sending you a whole lotta love and strength, and a speedy recovery @johnny_ruffo xx".
