Winners: A grade Champion Betty Berryman 68 nett winning on a count back from Vicki Gainsford 68 nett. B grade Champion Loyalty Roberts 66 nett. C grade Champion Peta Ferrari 62 nett the best nett score Peta has really hit the ropes with her golf in the last four weeks. 75+ Supervet Champion was no other than Maida O’Mally 67 nett.

Optional Ball winners, first Vicki Gainsford 68 nett, second Robyn Jones 69 nett third Jean Richardson 70 nett winning on a count-back from Betty green and Gail White both 70 nett. Drawn Card went to Jeanette O’Brien. Nearest Pin on ninth Vicki Gainsford, Marie Houghton won Nearest Pin 17th. Marie has been absent from golf after OS travel and a long illness after travel welcome back Marie. Raffle was kindly donated by Barbara Tuck and won by Terese Haley.

Some Ladies had registered in Veterans Championships September 16-17. their results will be published in Members report as no other Ladies golf comp was played that day.

Today Wednesday, September 20 (Program Change) Monthly Medal and a Committee Meeting will follow golf results. Next Saturday, September 23 will see Jean Walters Memorial Par event with a mixed draw. Trophy kindly donated by Walters Family.

Sunday, September 24 will see Coles Charity Fundraiser day a two person Ambrose with many nearest pin trophies, all day Bar-B-Cue and a large worthwhile raffle. Wednesday, September 27 McLachlan Shield Play off plus a Stroke Event with Joyce McCutcheon’s kindly donated Trophy.

Thursday, September 28 a few ladies have registered to play in WDLGA Finals Day at Warren. Saturday, September 30 (Long Weekend) Stableford event mixed draw, Club Trophy Weekly Ponder;-Life is short; it seems careless not to use it all. Granny Golfing Guru

The Time honoured “Fino” Day took centre stage this week, with more twists and turns than most mystery thrillers and in the end the conclusion was certainly a surprise as well. Some eight teams contested this event and after the First round of Matches the Trangie quartet of Doug Ferrari, Alan Carter, Andrew Barber and Logan Fraser were the Only team to record two wins, but a gentle Nudge from “Tourney” director towards the boys in the Red Trousers had this outfit back in the pack at the lunchtime Break. Congratulations to Josh and James Coen who after eight years finally won a Pairs match in this event, and it must have been just the tonic they needed as by playing a draw in the 4’s Match they also knocked out the Tournament leaders. So by Days end it came down to a Three way Tie, with the count-back system needed to determine the Podium spots: In First Place on 3 ½ Wins and 522 points were the squad of Rabz Macqueen, Geoff Anderson, Terry McDonald and Robbie Stanford. Second spot went to Legs Hartas, Peter Payne, John Edwards and Steve Riley: As usual David Finlayson was the perfect Host, and he made sure all contestants were well lubricated:

There was just a Half dozen Players who braved the less than ideal conditions on Thursday, thus no recorded scores or prizes, whilst Sunday morning’s Chook run was a non-event owing to the Club’s Annual General Meeting taking Precedence. President Kevin welcomed special guest , auditor reviewer  Lee-anne From Christie’s and Co, who was on hand to explain the Balance Sheet and any answer any questions, but there were no queries, which considering the outstanding year we have had wasn’t  all that surprising: For the Record the 2017/2018 Board of Management for the Narromine bowling Club reads something like this: President Kevin Rider, Senior Vice President John Edwards, Vice President / Club Secretary Norman R Bohm, Directors Robert French, Daniel Carnevale, Mark Hilder, Peter Cross, Jimmy Daley, Steve Riley. A big welcome aboard to Jimmy Daley & Steve Riley, I’m sure these two fine men will meet muster.

The “A: Grade Triples commence this coming Saturday 23rd September at 1.30pm and whilst there ae only TWO First round Matches listed under the play sub or forfeit Laws, those teams who have drawn a bye may play their second round match by mutual agreement if it helps your personal schedule: Round 01 matches include Rick Bohm, Geoff Bohm & Danny Carnevale taking on Rabz Macqueen, Trent Jacobson & John Edwards, whilst in the other round 1 fixture it will be Arnold Gillespie, Jeff Schloeffel & Don Sullivan up against the trio of Joey Mikulic, John Woolfe & Robbie Stanford.

Our Annual Triples tournament is not that far away November 18 and the Flyers for this event should be out in the next week or so. Not much more to report but just a reminder September 21, that’s this Thursday the club will be conducting a Bonus raffle in conjunction with our normal Thursday Faire.

Over the last weekend Narromine hosted the NSW Veterans Sandgreen 4BBB championships on both mornings. as a result numbers were small for the afternoon comps. On Saturday we had nine starters in a 4BBB sponsored by the Club. Mick McKean and Rob Gainsford combined for 51 points to win from Kale Bock and Ryan Richardson on 48 points.

On Sunday we had ten starters in a 4BBB sponsored by the club. The winners were Kale Bock and Bud Cape with 50 points from Craig and Richard Duff on 46 points. At this stage still waiting for a new date for the Holden Scramble. This weekend we have a four Ball Aggregate sponsored by Steve & Megan Buckley &  on Sunday we have a big day the Coles 2 Person Ambrose with stacks of prizes.

Last Wednesday,13 golfers turned up for the weekly Gerries golf competition on the front nine of the Narromine course in almost perfect weather conditions. Winner on the day was Mal Richardson with a very good round of 25 Stableford points. He defeated the consistent Chris Harding also on 25 points on a count back. Brian Masling won the NTP which was worth two golf balls and there was no NAGA  award this week due to insufficient numbers.

Attention turned to the Pool table where Gus Smith and Bob Fletcher defeated Chris Harding and Tiger Berryman to advance to the final. In the second match Ross King and Norm Lewis made it through to the final by defeating Terry Willis and Mal Richardson in a black ball game. The final was a long match with lots of "Dirty play " and snookers. Smith and Fletcher eventually won and became the weekly champions. Well played boys. This afternoon the Gerries will play the back nine with the hit off at the usual time of 2.30pm. See you all on the tee.

Sunday, September 17: During his long career Rodney Robb has been a great supporter of racing at the smaller towns and villages and it was a very popular result when the Nyngan based trainer with Security Code won the inaugural $50,000 Picnic Championship Final (1400 metres) held at the highly successful Dubbo Cup Showcase TAB meeting on Sunday.

Owned by three railway workers,Wayne Casey from Nyngan and father and son Ray Riley and Gavin Riley from Gilgandra and Dubbo respectively, the six year old chestnut gelding Security Code had qualified for the Final by winning Picnic Cups at Tottenham, Bedgerabong and Bourke.

Superbly ridden by Maddison Wright, formerly from the south coast but now working for the Rodney Robb stable, Security Code ($8) tracked the three leaders before sprinting through a gap to win by a half length from the strong finishing Black Fusion ($12) ridden by Victorian jockey Toby Lake for Wagga Wagga trainer Scott Spackman. Third was the Neil Osborne, Canberra trained Kinda Tangy (Billy Owen, $4.40) with the ten year old Double Halo (Ricky Blewitt, $4.20 favourite) trained at Gilgandra by Bruce Parker a gallant fourth in the twelve horse field.

Further success for Nyngan when Clayton Gallagher apprenticed to Rodney Robb won the $60,000 Dubbo City Toyota Gold Cup (1600 metres) on the Brett Cavanough, Scone trained Brazen. Gallagher gave his mount a dream run on the rails behind the leading pair and Brazen ($12) prevailed by a neck from Dreadlock (Andrew Banks, $5.50) with a short head to third placed Schedule (Rachael Murray, $2.45 favourite). Eleanor Webster-Hawes, made the long trip from Cowra to Enngonia in the north west to ride some unplaced rank outsiders on Saturday then was back at Dubbo on Sunday to boot home a memorable winning double Cowboys Karma and Somebody.

The dedicated jockey led all the way on the Allan Gibson, Dubbo trained Cowboys Karma ($15) in the Western Star Hotel Benchmark 57 Handicap (1300 metres) before beating an outstanding field of sprinters on Somebody in the $40,000 XXXX Gold Flying Handicap,1100 metres. Now the winner of six races from 15 starts for the Bathurst based Don Ryan and Andrew Ryan father and son trainer partnership,Somebody ($4.80 favourite) ridden to perfection by Eleanor Webster-Hawes, came with a powerful run from well back to win from Escebee (Clayton Gallagher, $10) and Danish Lace, (Kaylee Kirkwood, $5).

Saturday, September 16: Much travelled Miss Mellencamp has raced in three States over the past month won the Dunk Insurance Enngonia Cup (1400 metres) in north west New South Wales on Saturday. Trained at Nyngan by Rodney Robb, Miss Mellencamp had finished second at Wyndham in the far north of Western Australia before winning at Bedourie in outback Queensland. 

Ridden by Rodney Robb's apprentice Clayton Gallagher, Miss Mellencamp ($2.80) was taken on early for the lead in the Enngonia Cup before clearing out for a four lengths win over Sword Fighter (Kacie Chater, $2.70) and Rusty Motorbike Michael Hackett, ($2.30 favourite). Enngonia Race Club president Phillip Ridge was pleased with good crowds on Saturday and happy when Tuncoona the horse he owns with family was a runaway winner of the Maiden Plate,1100 metres. Punters who watched Tuncoona easily beat other gallopers in a Mudgee barrier trial snapped up the early $2.50 odds and the Clint Lundholm, Dubbo trained Tuncoona breezing home by over ten lengths from Raine Joy (Erhan  Kacmaz, $11.00) and Jamazem (Kacie Chater, $3.20).
