Dubbo MP Troy Grant said the investment would help improve facilities the whole region could enjoy.
“This is fantastic news for the Narromine Shire,” Mr Grant said.
“Our community has been calling out for upgrades to local facilities and I’m thrilled these can now be carried out.
“Stronger Country Communities funding is an investment in local infrastructure to improve the lives of residents and enhance the attractiveness of our region – this funding will help us do exactly that.”
The projects to be funded include: refurbishments to Tomingley Hall; extensive works to the amenity of Narromine and Trangie Pools; development of outdoor fitness equipment in Narromine; construction of an additional toilet block at Trangie Showground, and; refurbishment at the Narromine Sports and Fitness Centre.
Narromine Shire mayor Craig Davies said the projects included in the funding applications had been developed through community consultation and aligned with the council’s Community Strategic Plan.
“These projects will see all members of our shire benefit,” Councillor Davies said.
“The total expenditure from council will be around $1.1 million, including the grant funding, and will deliver crucial upgrades to local infrastructure to improve the quality of life in the region.”
Applications for round two of the funding are set to open this month.
