Acting Nursing Unit Manager, Cassandra Goodman said the nurses at Narromine are there to help with health care outside of the hospital setting.
“Not all health care occurs within hospital. Sometimes we have health care needs that can be done at your home or in a community health setting,” Ms Goodman said.
“Our Primary and Community Health Nurses aim to help people maintain their independence and wellbeing while avoiding an unnecessary hospital visit.
“For example, if you have a wound that needs medical attention, it is better to treat it earlier, otherwise it may become infected and you may end up in hospital.”
“Being in hospital also increases your risk of falling, and we want to keep people healthy and out of hospital.”
“Nurses look at each person on an individual basis to ensure care is tailored to you. We may also be able to help link you up with other health care services and providers should you need further help,” she said.
People are not required to make an appointment to see a nurse at Narromine Primary and Community Health.
