The Time Honoured “Fino” Day took pride of place last weekend, and as usual those in attendance certainly enjoyed the camaraderie and the format of the day.

To say the bowls results were interesting is probably an understatement, but that the sort of day it is.
Most Pundits would not have had Team Daley and Marquee Player Alan Shannan leading the charge at the lunch time break, but that’s what happened in the morning “rota” of Matches.
However a loss in the Four’s fixture after lunch proved to be a telling blow for them and unfortunately they went from first to third as a result of this little hiccup.
The overall winning combination and the only undefeated side all day saw Codey Anning, Legs Hartas, Peter Payne and Steve Riley atop the podium at days end, with Murray Gillespie, Arnold Gillespie, Jeff Schloeffel and Don Sullivan are mere ½ Win back claiming the runners up Cheque.
On a personal Note a big thank you to Alex Williams, Tom Newlands, Bill West and Kevin McDonald for filling in at the last minute, thus eliminating the need for a pesky “BYE” to be put in place.
Our Annual General Meeting was held last Sunday morning, with little change to the Board of management. For the record your Committee for the ensuing year sees Kevin Rider once again in the role of President.
He will be supported by a new Vice President in Steven Riley, whilst Rick Bohm retains his position as Club Secretary. Also on Board to help steer the ship will be returning directors Danny Carnevale, Robert French, Jimmy Daley, Peter Cross and new director Adam Jermyn.
During the course of his Presidents report Kevin acknowledged the Outgoing Vice president John Edwards, who did not seek re-election.
John has been an intrigal part of the Board for the last decade and no doubt his experienced and guidance will be missed, but we wish him well in whatever the future holds for him.
Also having a spell is Mark Hilder, who has served a few terms as director, but decided not to seek re-election this year. Again to Mark all the best, and thank you for your efforts.
Nominations for the A grade Triples close this weekend and hopefully the schedule for this event will see the last of our championships finalised before the end of October.
Just in time for our Annual Triples Tournament to go ahead as programmed, along with the Club Challenge event and a couple or three Supa Saturday, so if you thought the season would be winding down Guess again?
Social bowls this week was restricted to Thursday, with some 20 players going round. The days winners were pretty easy to find courtesy of a 43/09 score line. The trio that scored that impressive win was Mick Woodward, Bob Christoff and Steve Buttsworth.
The vanquished opponents will remain unnamed owing to the fact I took the “Bribe”, thanks Dale. The runners up cheque went to Kevin Heatrick & Danny Carnevale, whilst once again the Jackpot was a “tad” elusive.
Best of luck to those Narromine Teams who are playing in Tournaments this coming weekend, and for those staying at home, I hope to catch up with you up at the “Bowly” sometime during the course of this long weekend.

A rails hugging ride by Ken Dunbar on Sovereignaire in the Cup completed a four win haul at the Grenfell meeting on Saturday for the Dubbo based jockey.
Trained at Bathurst by Dean Mirfin, the eight year old gelding Sovereignaire was positioned midfield on the fence by Dunbar with Bon Honour setting the pace in the 2000 metres Oliver’s Hardware/Crutcher Developments Grenfell Cup.
Gentleman Max carrying the 61kg top weight took a slender lead at the top of the straight however Sovereignaire ( $6 ) finished strongly along the inside rail to score a convincing win over the Trevor Sutherland, Wagga Wagga trained stablemates Run Hoff Run ( Bryan Murphy, $3.20 ) and Gentleman Max ( Michael Travers, $4 ).
