Meg Bennett said gardening isn’t something that comes naturally to her, and still doesn’t. However she said she loves beautiful things.
“Frankly it was scary. I could hear the weeds growing and becoming out of control. I didn’t know where to begin,” Ms Bennett said.
Ms Bennett said the pair undertook an internal renovation of the original house about 12 years ago and on completion switched her focus to the garden.
“Something needed to be done, so we embarked on a garden renovation with the help of Judy and Sue the wonderful Horti Ladies,” she said.
“Michael is great at growing things. I am good at the vision. Lindsay Rathbone is good at making sure our vision is maintained.”
Ms Bennett said their garden is a simple open style garden, which overlooks into the fields and to the river flats and trees.
“There is lots of lawn, edges and some hedges. It is no fuss, no frills. Our garden is our oasis and we love it,” she said.
