Tomorrow Man has partnered with Narromine’s Beat the Breakdown to deliver a two hour workshop where men in the area can get together and have a conversation about mental health with “gravity” which Tomorrow Man’s Tommy Herschell says can help save lives.
"It might not be yours but it might be the guy you’re talking to,” he said.
Often men hold each other to the stereotypical codes of masculinity, however this workshop helps show being a real man is speaking out when doing it tough.
“Men’s Night is about breaking that man code. We hold each other accountable to a rule book as men, that we don’t really talk about, but it’s there,” Mr Herschell said.
Mr Hetschell said the workshops work to “reinvent” this and gives men the tools to start conversations with close friends.
He said the workshops also aim to teach men who have things going on in their lives to “talk with gravity” using their emotional muscles.
“We go for a run, go to the gym, go for a swim, we surf we do all this stuff for our muscles, but what do we do for our mind, our hearts, and mental health,” Mr Herschell said.
Tomorrow Man began was founded by renowned boys educator and development expert Tom Harkin and runs programs in schools targeting teenage boys and giving them with the skills to understand their emotions and deal with them.
Mr Herschell thanked Beat the Breakdown for their five-year sponsorship, and is encouraging men in the region to come along.
“Take this opportunity to come together with the blokes in the region and understand and realise a lot of other blokes are going through stuff.”
“Together you can come out of this with a tool kit that will arm you for years to come and is something you can hand on to your young bloke as well.”
The Men’s Night will be held on Monday, November 26 from 6pm at 224 Warren Road, Narromine.
