About 10pm Friday night police were alerted to a man driving a black commodore with his headlights off through the streets of Trangie.
Police located the male standing outside the vehicle on Dandaloo Street and found him to be in possession of a knife and a knuckleduster, which is prohibited in NSW.
Police also searched the vehicle and found a significant amount of property including hand and power tools police allege to be stolen.
The man was arrested and taken to Dubbo Police Station.
He was charged for a number of offences and refused bail.
The car was also seized for forensic examination.
Narromine Police Sergeant Michael Smith thanked members of the community who assisted police, and encourages anyone to report any suspicious activity.
“I thank those who assisted on Friday night,” Sergeant Smith said.
“This arrest is a perfect example of how the community can assist local police.”
“I encourage members of the community to continue to report any suspicious activity to police as it is happening,” he said.
Police are continuing to make enquiries into items located within the vehicle, with further charges likely to be laid.
