Narromine's Helen Croker colours hair for World's Greatest Shave

Mrs Croker was at Mirror Hair Lounge on Wednesday to colour her hair pink in order to support people living with blood cancer.

This year the Leukaemia Foundation is celebrating 21 years of the World’s Greatest Shave campaign.

The World’s Greatest Shave began back in 1998 is now one of Australia’s biggest and most loved fundraising events.

In 2019 the nationwide event will help the Leukaemia Foundation support the 100,000 Australians currently living with blood cancer.

The campaign is close to Mrs Croker's heart as cancer has been a disease, which has affected many members of her family. 

"I lost my first husband to Leukaemia about 30 odd years ago, but then I remarried and just over the last few years Barry's been diagnosed with prostate cancer," she said. 

"His father also had prostate cancer and died from it, his brother has prostate cancer, my daughter's fiance died from cancer last year. 

"It's a terrible disease, so that's why I'm looking for sponsors to raise money for this blood disease."

It's not the first time Mrs Croker has raised money for the foundation, having shaved her head 10 years ago. 

"This time I'm going a full pink colour, and the girls here at Mirror are going to do that for me," she said. 

"So it's good fun."

Mrs Croker has set a target of $350, however in just one day of the national fundraiser has already reached $238. 

"I'll raise what I can, but its about awareness too, so I'll colour my hair and make myself a bit spectacular and go and look for a spare bit of change," she said. 

 "I'll have to find the lipstick to match it now."
