Narromine Shire Council draft Operational Plan and Budget 2019/20 on display

The council has released the draft Operational Plan and Budget, which will be placed on public exhibition until Friday, June 7.

Total ordinary rates are set to increase by 2.7 per cent in 2019/20, while water usages and access charges will increase by 15 per cent, from $1.30 to $1.50.

Council is expected to bring in $23 million during the year. Of that $7 million is from rates alone and another $580,000 from water charges.

The council however are putting aside $600,000 for drought measures and $250,000 for pumping equipment.

The Narromine Shire Council are also planning to spend over $400,000 on resealing roads within the shire.

Narromine Shire General Manager Jane Redden encouraged the public to view and provide feedback on the plans to help guide the council.

"The draft Operational Plan sets our Council's entire works program for 2019/2020, covering Council's expenditure from roads, parks, recreation facilities and community amenities," she said.

"Council continues to focus on providing an attractive place for business and upholding our residential facilities."

The draft operational plan, which incorporates the Council's budget and fees and charges for the financial year July 2019 to June 2020 also outlined activities to be undertaken by the council over the next financial year.

Major capital works from the Operational Plan 2019/20 includes the development of the wetlands recreational project, disability Inclusion works for the main streets of Narromine and Trangie, playground improvements, maintenance work to local and regional roads and the renewal of main town entrance signage for Trangie and Narromine.

The documents are available for viewing at at the council's chambers and the council's customer service and payments centre. They are also available at the Narromine Library, the Trangie Library, the BP Service Station, Tomingley and on the council's website www.narromine.nsw.gov.au.
