Trangie's Rhonda Richardson presented OAM at Government House

Mrs Richardson who said she's just "one of many" in the small community, has been recognised for her service to the community of Trangie.

"I was nervous but very excited to represent our little town Trangie with so many other well deserved recipients," Mrs Richardson said after the ceremony.

Mrs Richarson has been part of the community for over 40 years, and in that time her list of achievements and contributions are nothing short of astounding.

She began teaching at the Trangie preschool in 1980 and despite retiring to have children remained on the board for 30 years.

She also became a familiar face at St John's as a teacher, librarian and president of the P&C.

Mrs Richardson is now member of the Trangie Multipurpose Health Service Health Council, using her time to help the hospital.

Other contributions Mrs Richardson currently makes to the community include 30 years of being an active member of the Country Women's Association, a member of the Trangie Hospital Auxiliary, a committee member for Macquarie River Food and Fibre and Trangie Cancer Support Group.

She was also a founding member of the Trangie Quilters Association in 1980.

Following the ceremony, Mrs Richardson said everyone enjoyed a glass of champagne and afternoon tea in the garden at Government House overlooking the water.
