Narromine and Trangie Community Projects Need Your Vote

Four projects in the Narromine Shire have been submitted as part of the My Community Project grants program, which aims to fund projects in each NSW electorate to help improve the wellbeing of the people and communities that live there.

Up to $260,000 of funding is available to each electorate, with grants of between $20,000 and $200,000 to be awarded to the projects that receive the most support via community votes.

The first project is the refurbishment of the 100-year-old Soldier's Memorial Hall in Trangie.

Work includes a complete rewiring of the venue, installation of stage lighting and audio system, installation of a projector and screen, sanding, repairing and re-lacquering of the main floor and stage and repairs to the tin roof.

The project aims to bring together the community and will provide an event space with upgraded infrastructure and flexibility to host additional events locally.

The second project submitted is funding for the Narromine Dolly Parton festival.

The festival is designed to increase tourism to our area, particularly in this time of drought, encouraging visitors to stay and enjoy our country hospitality. It will provide entertainment for our community and celebrate an international icon.

The event scheduled for the 18-19 of April 2020 is aiming to draw regional and inter-state guests to the shire, providing a much needed boost to the community and businesses.

The third project nominated is upgrades to the playground at Dundas Park.

The upgrades will aim to bring this playground up to safety codes, will increase the age range by including younger elements and will create a space where our community can come together and enjoy.

The fourth project is the upgrading of the Narromine Pony Club grounds will create a safer place for our riding members and visitors to host events.

Member for Dubbo Dugald Saunders is encouraging people in the community to cast their votes.

"This is an innovative and exciting program that is putting decision making back in the hands of community members to weigh in on their top picks for projects in the region," Mr Saunders said.

Successful projects are determined through a public vote and the projects that receive the most support will receive funding.

Voting closes on August 15, with successful projects to be announced from September 2019.

People will need a MyServiceNSW Account and your Medicare card to vote.

Voters need to pick between three and five projects in their electorate, arrange them in order of preference and then submit the vote.
