Last Wednesday, some 12 hardy geriatric golfers turned up for the weekly competition on the back nine of the Narromine course in rather pleasant weather conditions.
The course was in top condition according to the scores returned.
Winner on the day was none other than Chris " The Pom " Harding with a great score of 28 points.
The handicapper tells me that you will loose eight shots off your handicap for this effort which I am sure will please you.
Runner up on the day was Malcolm Fraser on 26 points another great score.
Bob Fletcher took the NTP for only one golf ball and there was no NAGA prize on the day.
In the final of the Pool Comp,Bob Fletcher and Mal Richardson played Steve Squires and Chris Harding.
It appears Steve played a fancy shot, more realistically a lucky shot to sink the black and win the title of Pool Champs for the week giving " the Pom "a double for the day - well done Chris.
This afternoon the competition is on the front nine with a hit off time of 2.30.
A reminder to all Veteran Golfers- the Annual Narromine Veterans Open Tournament is on Thursday, August 15 with a hit off at 9am.
The event is an 18 hole single Stableford for men and women and incorporates the WDVGA Mens Singles championships for 2019.
The event is not a 4BBB event as listed in the Club Programme book.
See you all on the tee.

Final Round Success! In the final round of the regular season the Mighty Narromine Gorillas Secure Minor Premierships in first and second grade, as well as finals births for Colts and Women. But the most miraculous story from the weekend was the raising of over fifty thousand dollars for the Beat the Breakdown Charity.
The Juggernaut that has become of the Gorillas Womens side continued their incredible form downing the Dubbo Rhinos 80 points to seven.
The Rhinos had some good pace and ball movement but the Gorillas contained their attack well and were ruthless in making the most of their opportunities with Alice The Berge adding to her points tally and players player Madeline Bretag getting a try for herself on the back of a great support effort.
The Women have finished seventh in an eight team finals series which sees them play Forbes next week (location TBA).
The Colts ended the regular season in a very tough and physical game against the Dubbo Roos going down 20 points to seven.
The young Gorillas matched the Roos for most of the game but couldn't hang on toward the end as the Roos put on some late points to secure the win.
Again struggling for numbers a lot was asked of the group who have impressed with their courage all year. They've finished fourth and will play the Roos again this week.
The Gorillas second grade have come out undefeated minor premiers after fifteen rounds and are well on their way to a perfect season!
This being the case it was a warm welcome for some key players coming back into the side with Keith Maher, Harry Tuck, Luke Mack and Luke Brown getting back into it in their 48 to zero win over the Rhinos.
Dan Treseder has been back for a few weeks now after getting some body maintenance done and is playing some good footy. And shout-out to Euan Truscott who backed up for another full game after his tough loss in colts.
Also minor premiers, the Gorillas first grade was far from polished on the weekend in their 66 to 17 win also over the Rhinos.
Jono Sharkey and George Hancock had the side going forward well which led to plenty of scoring opportunities but a willing Rhinos defence had the home side pushing passes and turning over a lot of ball.
Doug Potter returned from injury adding a lot of flair on the wing, however Michael Harris came from the field with a shoulder issue that could trouble his chances of seeing out the year.
Defensively the Gorillas gave away plenty of territory as well which will need to be addressed if they are to achieve Premiership glory again this year.
The Gorillas get the chance to host the first round if finals with first grade taking on CSU, and second grade facing Mudgee. A first grade win will see the Gorillas host this years Grand Finals which will be the goal but they'll have to improve if they are to see off the students.
The big success story of the day though was the efforts of the Shire of Narromine raising over fifty thousand dollars for the Beat the Breakdown Charity.
For a region in survival mode this is such a massive effort, but none greater than the nine heroes who walked 77 kilometres for the cause.
Thank you to them, and all those who donated or bought a Jersey on Saturday night.
We look forward to seeing you at Cale Oval again this weekend for finals footy!!!

Men's Bowling
A very successful Charity Day last Saturday proved to be the highlight of the activities up at the bowling club this week.
Unfortunately I don't have any results from the day's action, but from all reports and given the nature of the day winning wasn't that important.T
he Programmed B grade Singles that were due to start this coming weekend have had to be cancelled due to lack of nominations, disappointing that!!!Just a reminder that with two weeks to go Nominations for the Annual "GUB" Thorne Memorial Day are coming in thick and fast, so much so, that we only have a few spots left for those wishing to play in this event.
So if you're a mind to have a go then a visit to the notice Board is strongly recommended to avoid "Missing the Bus"Nominations for the club fours are also now being called for and to date the entries aren't "Too Shabby", but a few more teams would make this a true contest for the last Major Championship for 2019.
Social Bowls this week saw Smallish fields for both Thursday and Sunday, but given the weather is on the turn, hopefully these fields will improve accordingly.
But I digress, back to Thursday where the duo of Noel Delboux and Terry McDonald got the Lion's share of the loot on offer, courtesy of winning ten of the 18 ends played against Clifton and David.
The other winning rinks included the trio of Kevin Heatrick, Greg Wright and Steve Buttsworth who won a tough fought encounter 20/15 over Col, Phil and Eddie and Des Lincoln and Danny Carnevale who prevailed 19/17 in their pairs Clash against Richard and Don.Sunday's chook run saw the always hard to beat duo of Clifton Harris and Bill Wilkie claim the days top prize with a solid 18/10 win over Richard and David.
The next best performed pair were Bill West and Don Sullivan who had a tight 12/11 win over Mark and Puddy, whilst in the other pairs confrontation it was Bob Ashdown and Robbie Stanford who prevailed 17/15 over "Sticka" and Danny: Bob and Robbie also got the Jackpot prize pool courtesy of the old bingo machine producing the corresponding number to their winning margin.
Just a reminder to all those members who have not paid their Annual "subs" yet, you cannot win the badge draw if you're not financial.Well that's it for me for another week, lovely to be home, but I wish it were warmer.
