A 24-year-old man has been charged after allegedly biting a police officer's hand while resisting arrest in the state's west on Tuesday.

About 3pm Tuesday afternoon, two offers from the Orana Mid-Western Police District attended a house on Second Avenue in Narromine following concern for welfare report.
Shortly after arriving police allege that a 24-year-old man attacked the officers, before biting a male sergeant's hand.
The man was arrested and taken to Dubbo Police Station, where he was charged with assaulting police causing actual bodily harm, assaulting police and resisting arrest.
The sergeant was taken to Dubbo Base Hospital for treatment to a hand injury and has since been discharged.
The 24-year-old man appeared in Dubbo Local Court on Wednesday, July 3, where he was formally refused bail.
He will reappear at Dubbo Local Court on Monday, August 5.
