Last Wednesday saw a win for Steve Squires at long last. There was a field of 12 golfers who faced the starter for the weekly competition played on the back nine of the Narromine course in rather cool playing conditions. Squires has been knocking at the door of a win for some time now and he eventually cracked it with a round of 23 points and victory. With a score like that he will not lose many shots when the handicapper deals with his card. Well done Steve.
Two players tied for second on 22 points with Bob Culhane returning to form in taking the trophy over his traveling companion Malcolm Fraser. Fraser was indeed fortunate to win the NTP prize when he got inside a great ball from Chris Harding. There was no NAGA prize this week due to insufficient players.
After presentations attention turned to the Pool competition where Ross King and Gus Smith met Terry Willis and Steve Squires in the final with Squires was playing for a double on the day. Willis and Squires were really playing well when someone put the black in with a foul shot leaving King and Smith with 7 balls left on the table. They were able to claim the title of " Champs for the week".

Some of our local ladies were disappointed with their first round of 18 holes.
Overall players were rather impressed with the organization catering and spotters.
Spotter Steve Buckley was run off his feet collecting out of bounds Balls which were over the fence on second channel fairway!
Richard Duff (another spotter) had to buy him a beer to keep Steve alive!
Finally Spotter Col Shepherdson was caught putting Vicki Gainsford's Out of Bounds ball in his pocket on 9th! Give it back Colin!
Thanks to all and other Spotters Tony Harding and Ross King for giving up your weekend! Also Chris Harding for cleaning carts and Mal McIntyre for helping and keeping the Ladies amused!

Bowling
The Calm before the Storm , is gone and so it was full steam ahead last week up at the Bowly with Narromine players involved in Zone & Club Champions, as well as a Visitation from the Mudgee Travelling Bowlers troop, and to top it all off a game of Social Bowls thrown in for good measure. Firstly to the Zone event and to our Current major pairs Champions Garry Raines & Don Sullivan, it was a case of "Close but NO Cigar" when they were defeated in the Final of their Section of the Champion of Champions Pairs event, held over two Days at Peak Hill Bowling Club. After kicking off with a BYE Saturday morning the Boys had a comfortable win over the Baradine Duo Saturday Afternoon to book themselves a spot in Sunday Morning's Semi-Final confrontations. The lads were well and truly in the Groove come Sunday morning as they "Clobbered" their Opponnents 23/05 in a very one sided affair. So it was down to the Final where their opponents were the Coonabarabran Champions of Dean McAlpine & Vince Collins, who were in outstanding form having won all their encounters against much more "vaunted" Pairs, and unfortunately for the Lads in the Red Trousers that trend continued in the Final with Garry & "Sully" not getting a sniff going down 24/13.
Commiserations Boys, maybe next year and hopefully John Edwards will take the Narromine Club to the next step when he competes in the Prestigious Singles event this coming weekend at Dubbo City. Although it won't be an easy task, "Johno" having a tuff draw but anything's possible, and singles is all about Patience and persistence, both qualities he has an abundance of.
Our own Club FOURS kicked off last weekend and due to the afore mentioned Zone events, it was a disjointed Start. We could only program 2 matches due to the Zone events taking precedence and unfortunately it will be more of the same this coming weekend with Just the One game being able to be played. But firstly to what happened last Saturday, well the Window tappers didn't get much value for money in the morning game with Robert French's quartet putting on a clinic, jumping out to a 14/01 lead after 8 ends against Peter Cross & Co, then simply not doing anything "dumb" to let them back into the match eventually winning 29/14. So on to the second match and this time around the Window Tappers certainly got their monies worth as the Clash between Racardo Stanford, Budd Cape, David McNair & Robbie Stanford, who were up against Clifton Harris, Des Lincoln, Danny Carnevale & Adam Jermyn needed an extra end to determine the Winner. This time around it was Robbie & Co who got the "BOB" in to advance to the semi-finals, where they will play John Edwards & Co but Not this weekend coming. So the Only game we have gazetted for Play this Saturday will feature Ross Edden, Lincoln Clark, Steve Buttsworth & Aaron Clark Up Against Arnold Gillespie,Garry Raines, Eddie McPhee & Don Sullivan.
Social Bowls on Thursday saw a field a bit like the weather, "disappointing" but the 12 who did go round certainly enjoyed the camaraderie and the Battle. A full wrap of the days play went something like this: on rink 01: Noel Delboux & Steve Buttworth 17 shots and some 12 points defeated Bob Davis & David McNair 14 shots & 09 points: On Rink 02 it was the Duo of Des Lincoln & Don Sullivan who prevailed 18/14 and scoring some 13 points along the way in their win over Col Hume & Danny Carnevale 08 points. The final confrontation, another pairs clash saw Kevin Heatrick & Aaron Clark get the chocolates as the best team on the day courtesy of a 18/16 win over Greg Wright & T-MAC.
Sunday Mornings Normal Chook Run took a Knee this week, (or should that be Wing?) when the Mudgee Travelling Bowlers joined in the mornings fun. Some 28 Players had a great morning and my thanks to Pat & his boys for their Little Raffle Prize which more than covered the cost of the day. The winners of the day were the trio of Bob Davis, Phil Harding & Aaron Clark, with John Fleming, Wilf Jackson & Shaun Costigan getting the Runners up Cheque. The Raffle was won by Lucky "HOMO", and rounded out his day nicely.
Just a reminder that Nominations for the Board of management of the Narromine Bowling Club Close this weekend, and to date there a still a few spots left if you're a mind to be part of this team.
Well that's it for me for another week, see you up at the "Bowly"
Narromine Bowling Club hosted it monthly trivia night recently , with the 5 Local Schools the recipient of the Nights Takings. with each of the Schools receiving over $400.00 to help them purchase needed equipment or whatever. Once again Local Philanthropist Geoffrey Wai Kat Sim chipped in a few extra shekels, which was much appreciated. A big thank you to Barb and Des Lincoln and David Walsh who helped in the Absence of "Adriana" Hilder. Just a reminder we do it all again next month, with the local charity being the Mudygalang Ladies.
