Last Wednesday in almost perfect conditions for golf some 14 players turned up for the weekly Geriatric golf competition played on the front nine of Royal Narromine.

The course is in remarkable condition despite the dry weather thanks to the volunteer course workers who do a marvelous job preparing the course each week.

This week the the former Bourkites and now residents of Dubbo who enjoy traveling to Narromine each week cleaned up the locals by taking first and second places on the day.Bob Culhane was first on the podium with a fine round of 24 points.

He defeated his traveling companion Malcolm Fraser by the odd point on 23.

Two very good rounds by these two popular golfers. Bob Fletcher claimed the NTP prize on the day and cleaned out the jackpot kitty.

There was a great battle for the NAGA prize and Steve Squires thought he had it in the bag until Vince Ferrari came along with 16 points to claim the weekly prize.

We had one visitor, Ron Jackson from Parkes as guest of Bob Fletcher.

Once again only one game of pool which saw Steve Squires team with Ron Jackson to defeat Gus Smith and Bob Fletcher and become the Pool Champions for the week.

No doubt Smithy was overworked preparing the after golf eats which were enjoyed by all in attendance.In it was great afternoons golf and frivolity.

This afternoon the competition will be played on the back nine with the hit off at the usual time of 2.30 pm. See you all on the tee.

Last Saturday we held the Dad's Army inaugural golf day sponsored by Inland Petroleum. Other sponsors were Ag n Vet Landmark, NDF and the families of

Dads army the Gainsfords, McCutcheons, Crawfords, Burgess and Cales. 84 players turned up to play a 2 person ambrose almost half won a trophy.

Best score for the day Scott Magill and Peter Astill with 57.25, the mens winners were Tony Harding and Jamie McKinnon 58.75, mixed winners Phil Johnston and Vicki Gainsford 67.75. Social winners were Jack McCutcheon and Jock Crawford.

Men's runners up Steve Squires and Gus Smith, social runners up Kath and Robert Williams. Third place went to Tony Mann and Dudley Alcorn and Katie McCutcheon and Sandy Crawford. Nearest the pins 3 rd Rob Gainsford and Kath Williams,10th Gail White and Scott Magill and 17 th Dale Harding and Stu Crawford.

Sunday was an Irish Stableford sponsored by Ian Taylor and Ross Smith.

Winners were Phil Johnston and Greg Barling runners up Mick McKean and John Tadman. Nearest the pins were won by Greg Barling and Tony Harding.

Long weekend Monday saw 6 players play a 4ball aggregate sponsored by the club. The winners were Dan Coen and Kale Bock with 69 points followed by Dudley Alcorn and Tony Mann 68.

On Saturday 12 th October we have a monthly medal sponsored by Macquarie Clothing and on Sunday a 4B worst ball sponsored by Col Shepherdson and Ash Bullock.

Settling into a steady rhythm the aptly named Relaxed cruised in the lead before winning the 1750 metres Agfarm Mungery Picnic Cup on Sunday by a big margin.

Ridden by south coast jockey Maddison Wright, the Rodney Robb, Nyngan trained Relaxed ($2.10 favourite) had seven lengths to spare at the finish from the Garry Lunn trained pair, Nightspun (Ricky Blewitt,$3 ) which had finished third in TAB company at Dubbo on Friday and Traffic Cop (Jody Hughes,$5), a winner at Mudgee the day before Mungery.

Maddison Wright and Rodney Robb also combined to win the Maiden Plate (1200 metres) with She's Sizzling ($1.70 favourite), an all the way winner by nearly six lengths from Izzonsong (Ridge Wilson,$21) and Count On Conflict (Michael Gray,$5.50).

Rodney Robb completed a winning treble when Work And Chat ($3) ridden by Inverell based Ridge Wilson, defeated stablemate Star Express (Maddison Wright,$3.80) and Thorn Lass (Michael Gray, $13) in the 1200 metres Narromine Hotel Class B Handicap.

Bred and raced by Dennis Todd the mayor of Warrumbungle Shire Council, Work And Chat following a string of placings won the Mungery race by over five lengths after taking the early lead.

Multiple premiership jockey Ricky Blewitt who was badly injured in a racefall at Tomingley in April recently resumed riding and following a winning treble at Lockhart on Friday he won the Maiden Plate (800 metres) at Mungery on the Kylie Kennedy, Narromine trained $1.70 favourite My Baby Sprintz.

Scone based trainer Mark Scmetzer had a winning double with Military Bay ($3.20) and Jetello ($2.70), both leading all the way with the trainers brother in law Ashley Boyd the rider.

Troy Schmetzer the owner of Jetello has been a trackwork rider in Hong Kong for the past three years and is the brother of Mark Schmetzer.

Jetello led by five lengths turning for home and lasted to win by a long neck from Mr Swift (Jody Hughes, $2.50 fav) with Star Of Zizou (Ricky Blewitt, $3.40) over five lengths away third.

Despite typical hot and windy drought weather a big crowd attended the Mungery Picnics.

Racing at Forbes (TAB) on Saturday with the $75,000 Coonamble Cup (TAB) to feature on Sunday.

Louth

At the Country Racing Awards gala function held in Sydney on Friday night there were major wins for the Louth and Forbes Clubs.

Louth was announced as the Country Race Club Of The Year and Forbes received the Outstanding Achievement Award.
