Dubbo's Therese Maidens and Vanessa Herbert had the idea to organise a shopping road trip in response to the tough times.
The busload of 17 women headed out west on Sunday, making its first stop at Narromine, before continuing to Trangie, Nevertire and Warren.
Logan Maidens, daughter of Therese Maidens, said they wanted to support the goals of Buy from the Bush, a social media campaign encouraging city consumers to spend in drought-affected communities.
"We worked out we spent about $600 or $700 per store," Ms Maidens said.
"In the tough times we're having at the moment, they [the retailers] were touched."
A highlight of the day had been attending the Nevertire Hotel Spring Market Day.
"We had lunch there, it was packed, it was really good to see," Ms Maidens said.
She encouraged others to consider a similar trip.
