Narromine residents will have the opportunity to hear from primary industries businessman and owner of Fletcher International Exports Roger Fletcher, who will address the crowd at Dundas Park in Narromine this Australia Day.

His passion for the sheep industry took him from drover to entrepreneur when he made the decision to stop using council and government-owned abattoirs and build one of his own on a greenfield site in Dubbo in the late 1980s.

Mr Fletcher was awarded an Order of Australia medal (OAM) in 2019 for his service to the primary industry.

Narromine Australia day celebrations are on January 26 at Dundas Park from 8am with free bacon and egg rolls.

Formal proceedings including the Australia Day address by Mr Fletcher and presentation of Australian citizen awards will begin at 8.30am.

A citizenship ceremony will follow, along with a watermelon eating and thong throwing contest.

For the second year in a row Trangie will celebrate Australia Day from 6pm at the United Services Memorial Club.

Thanks to the Trangie Action Group this year residents will have the opportunity to meet and hear from Dubbo-based champion bull rider Jamie Manning.

Mr Manning was involved in a serious car crash in 2014 where he lost a leg and a hand, broke his back, fractured his skull and suffered burns to 40 per cent of his body.

Despite the terrible ramifications of a crucial few seconds of his life, the father of three counts himself as lucky.

Now he's an ambassador for road safety highlighting the risk taking excuses people make on country roads.

From 6pm there will be the presentation of the Australia Day awards, live entertainment and a free barbeque including a visit from the lamb man and the Whisk Away van.

The Narromine Shire are inviting residents to the pool for a free entry day on Monday, January 27.

The Narromine Aquatic Centre will be open from 11am until 3pm for people to help beat the heat.

The Trangie Aquatic Centre will also have a free pool entry day on Sunday, January 26.

Temperatures are expected reach a top of 38 degrees celsius.

People are reminded children under the age of 12 must be supervised by a parent or guardian.
