On Thursday, February 13, the Narromine Shire Council along with the Narromine and Trangie Local Aboriginal Land Council's (LALC) hosted a morning tea for National Apology Day at the Golf Club.
About 100 residents from across the shire, including representatives from Trangie, attended the service which featured guest speaker Grace Toomey from the NSW LALC.
The event marked the 12th anniversary of the apology to Australia's Indigenous peoples in the House of Representatives in 2008 by former Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd.
Here he apologised for past laws, policies and practices that have impacted on Australia's First Nations peoples, particularly members of the Stolen Generations.
This is a significant day in our nation's history and holds deep meaning for Australia's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Mr Rudd said the speech marked the first step in resolving the injustices of the past, and closing the gap in life expectancy, educational achievement and economic opportunity.
Narromine Shire Council general manager, Jane Redden said they were pleased to be working alongside the LALC.
"This is a significant day in our nation's history and holds deep meaning for Australia's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples," she said.
