But, with the home side down 20-4 at half-time, it looked as though that fairy tale result would slip away... until the second stanza kicked off.

Molong exploded out of the sheds and after bringing the scores to 20-18, had a chance to take the lead with just seconds remaining.

President Jenny Barrow would have been over the moon if any player had scored the match-winning try, but was left speechless when her son Jye crashed over in the corner to give the boys in blue a 22-20 victory.

The result brings Molong within three points of third-placed Trundle, and all but seals their spot in the Woodbridge Cup semi-finals, something that looked dubious after the first month of the season.

But, all the boys needed was to get some of their main men back on the field and now, they look to be a puncher's chance ahead of the post-season.

"What an amazing day today was," Jenny Barrow said.

"I knew it would be emotional seeing our boys in those jerseys, but no one could have predicted such an exciting finish to the game."

The men's win was a cracker, but Barrow was sure to commend the women for their sensational effort beforehand, winning 48-0.

"Congratulations to our league tag ladies on an incredible win. Your game is improving every week, and the future is looking very bright," she said.

"To our first grade, I have never been more proud of all you boys. To be down 20-4 at half-time, then to fight back to take he win. It showed what you are all made of.

"The emotion and elation, both on and off the field, when Jye barged over the line in that last minute is something I'll never forget."

Even though it was Molong that came out on top in the end, it takes two sides to make for such a memorable game, and Barrow was sure to commend the visitors on a hard-fought effort.

"To the Eagles, thank you for a fantastic game," she said.

"You played hard until the last minute. Thank you for your kind and heartfelt words after the game.

"We know that even though you would have loved the points today, you were genuinely happy for our club and our family, and you showed that sometimes some things matter more than points.

"Our family can't put into words the amount of love and respect we feel from everyone who has helped us through these past few terrible months.

"To know Dave was loved and respected by so many is just so humbling, and the win today is just unforgettable."
