A $100,000 stone has been stolen from a regional museum
A museum in NSW's Northern Tablelands was subject to a robbery over the weekend, when a stone worth about $100,000 was taken.

On Saturday morning an unknown number of people broke into the Tingha Museum and stole a 80 kilogram piece of quartz worth roughly $100,000.
The quartz was taken at around 1am, and officers from the New England Police District were notified later that day.

A crime scene has now been established, and police are appealing for information from anyone who may have seen something.
The stolen item is described as being a "dark brown smoky quartz grass stone".
