After the semi-finals we have eight quality middle distance greyhounds qualified for the final with the winner to take home $125,000.
For a few years now GRNSW has been working on nurturing its staying ranks through feature middle-distance events across many of its tracks. To see the positive reaction to it is not only very pleasing, but vindication of the decision to put focus and effort into middle-distance racing.
It will be a wonderful evening at Dawson Park, with not only a fantastic support card of racing, but Shannon Noll will also perform during and after the race meeting.
For those outside Dubbo, the extended showcase coverage of the meeting with updates and interviews, and similar coverage of the Wentworth Park meeting, will be on thedogs.com.au website from 6pm on Saturday.
More technology
GRNSW is expanding its technological footprint with the installation of the Isolynx tracking and timing system at Wentworth Park and Ladbrokes Gardens.
The system is already in place at both Richmond and Grafton and has proven incredibly popular with participants and racing enthusiasts.
The system allows real time tracking and data, allows for the race order to be displayed (numbers in running) around the track, and also for the speed of each greyhound to be tracked and displayed on live race vision.
The Isolynx system also has the ability to provide the distance travelled by each greyhound, individual splits and speed at those splits, and the acceleration of each greyhound. It also provides greyhound health and welfare measurements, and all data collected will assist the betterment of greyhound racing.
Action aplenty
The Stockman & Paddock Country Classic kicks off what will be a massive couple of months of greyhound racing in NSW.
On Saturday, March 26 we have the heats of the Ladbrokes Golden Easter Egg at Wentworth Park, with the semi-finals a week later and then the $250,000-to-the-winner final on April 9.
On March 31 the TAB Million Dollar Chase series begins with heats at Casino, Dapto and Gunnedah, and of course it culminates on May 7 with the grand final when someone walks away with the $1 million first prize.
Then the following month in Newcastle will be the inaugural running of The 715, an event for stayers at Ladbrokes Gardens worth $500,000 to the winner.
