Shepherd was awarded the prestigious award at the club’s presentation at the Royal Hotel last Friday night.
“(It was a) total surprise, I didn’t expect anything like this,” Shepherd said.
“The club was on the brink a long time ago and to see it still up and running is very rewarding, not only for myself but for a lot of guys that have been around the club for a while.”
Shepherd’s father, Cliff, is also a life member of the club.
“I guess over time, we’ve both done a lot for the club. It means a lot to both of us,” Adam said.
Centrals knocked-off eight-time reigning first grade champions Cavaliers by 21 runs in the 2010-11 ODCA decider.
It was the club’s first top grade premiership in 23 years.
“It’s been an unbelievable year,” Shepherd said.
Other award winners on the night were Mitch Harvey, who was named cricketer of the year, Daniel Sandford, club person of the year, Will Richard, rookie of the year, and Mark Hayman, outstanding contribution award.
Roshan Eisemann was named the second grade best and fairest, Michael Nebauer took out the second grade all-rounder award while Provvista gun Jake Pauletto received the junior encouragement award.
First grade captain Mick Walker received a special appreciation award.
Shepherd took out the first grade batting average and aggregate gongs with 310 runs at 31.

Centrals president Wes Roweth said a lot of work has been put in behind the scenes to get the club to where it is today.
“We’d just like to thank our sponsors for their continued support and generosity,” Roweth said.
