Police said the unknown offender left the store in Melbourne's northeast with a bag of cash and a 10-pack of Woodstock bourbon and cola cans.
The thief allegedly went to the Preston BWS on Plenty Road at 8.40pm on January 14, approached the employee at the counter and pulled out the gun.
The worker complied with the thief's demands for cash and no one was physically injured during the robbery, police said.
Detectives have released footage of the hold-up asking anyone who recognises the man to come forward.
He is perceived to be Caucasian, aged between 50 and 60 years old, with short brown hair.

The man has large tattoos on his lower legs including a rose on his right calf.
He was wearing black sunglasses, a blue and white checkered shirt, dark shorts and white runners in the security footage.
Anyone with information or footage is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
