Everybody loves a food tour. Whether it's touring a microbrewery, getting behind the scenes of a local restaurant or getting up close and personal with Indigenous produce, food is a winning way to capture Aussie hearts.

Now, the very best food tours in Australia have been named.

The Qantas Australian Tourism Awards were hosted by Australian Tourism Industry Council in Adelaide in March, representing the pinnacle of excellence in Australia's tourism industry.

The Excellence in Food Tourism category showcased the best food tour operators from Western Australia to NSW.

The winners were:

WA tourism minister Reece Whitby congratulated Harvest Tours and the other WA organisations that were recognised in the awards.

"There's no better place to visit in this country than Western Australia.

"That's not just because we live in the biggest and most diverse state in Australia - it's because our tourism businesses know what visitors want, and they're delivering it in spades," Mr Whitby said.

Harvest Tours WA

Tour WA's pristine Margaret River wine region with Harvest Tours.

The tours were crafted by Margaret River locals and take visitors to the regions's top wineries, gourmet eateries and hidden gems.

Half-day, full-dauy and premium wine tours are available stopping at the likes of Fermoy Estate, Peacetree, and Woody Nook Wines.

Love Lord Howe NSW

Love Lord Howe provides unique outdoor catering experiences, such as island picnics and catering for weddings.

"Amazing romantic opportunity. Setup was amazing. They definitely picked the best spot that afternoon as we were down at Lovers Bay right at sunset," a TripAdvisor review said.

"We were lucky and there were no clouds. It was a great opportunity for my proposal to, my now fiance. Even if you don't go for romantic reasons, the spread was still awesome with a variety of meats, dips, fruits, cheeses and crackers."

The Truffle Farm Tasmania

Siblings Henry and Anna are second-generation truffle farmers producing black truffles and products from Deloraine.

The truffles lie in cool, fertile earth until they develop their full flavour and aroma, and are ready for harvest.

The truffles are unearthed with the help of highly trained truffle dog and chief hunter, Doug.

My all-time favourite destination is ... Cornwall. From the giant seagulls to the blustery beaches, Cornish pasties and fishing villages, it stirs something romantic and seafaring in me.

Next on my bucket list is … Mongolia. I want to go somewhere really unique that feels totally foreign and challenges my way of life.

My top travel tip is … Don’t plan too much. Walk the streets and let it happen. And make sure you check out what’s within a few blocks of your hotel - sometimes the best local food is found that way.
